This Week

I decided to just make a list of the music I listened to this and last week, and sum up some favourite songs and maybe tell a little story.

The Kinks
This week I finally found my 'Kinks Greatest Hits' cd back, the cd I basically grew up with, and I played it again and again. The kinks are are rock band, active around the same time as the Beatles, I believe.  My favourite songs were, and still are: 'Lola', 'Sunny Afternoon', 'You Really Got Me Now', and actually just the whole cd.

Queen
There was a period of time i kept listening to this greatest hit album of Queen over and over again, but I don't do that very often these days (I sound like a really old lady now). I did listen to 'Bohemian Rhapsody' with Leonie and now I might develop that small obsession again… Sorry not sorry

Red Hot Chilli Peppers
My second favourite band in my childhood. Listened to 'Under the Bridge', totally gone listen to them a lot more now.

Guns 'n Roses
My father gave me 'Use your illusion II' so I listened to it over and over, especially to the last two tracks ('Don't Cry' ~ alternative lyrics and 'My world') and also to '14 years'

More songs I listened to:
The Killers - Somebody told Me
Arctic Monkeys - Teddy Picker
Arctic Monkeys - Brainstorm
Three Days Grace - Animal I Have Become
Skillet - Monster
Coldplay - Adventure of A Lifetime
RHCP - Dani California
RHCP - Snow
The Misfits - Some kinda hate

( I checked my "recently played music and I see like, 1200 different Arctic Monkey songs :") I must've gotten in the mood for it because of the Saturday post, LOL)

These were some songs I listened to, if you have suggestions, questions or something else, leave a comment below, click the share button and I will see you next Thursday (they call me Maya the Youtuber)!

It's Monday...

Yay, Monday. My favourite day of the week (not).
But to cheer you up I searched for some funny facts about music:

1. Plants seem to grow faster when you let them listen to music. They prefer classic music.
2. Leo Fender, the inventor of the Fender guitars, couldn't play the guitar himself.
3. Before the Beatles were the Beatles, they were called Johhny and the Moondogs.
4. Nope, not Eminem but the rapper Noclue is the fastest rapper in the world.
5. Your heartbeat mimics the rhythm of the music you're listening to.
6. Elvis Presley didn't write any of his songs.
7. The song Jingle Bells was actually written for Thanksgiving.
8. A song that gets stuck in your head is called an earworm.
9. Jimi Hendrix couldn't read or write music.
10. Metallica is the first and only band to play on all 7 continents.
11. Eminem wrote and recorded "The Real Slim Shady" just 3 hours before his album was due.
12. The piano Freddy Mercury plays in Bohemian Rhapsody is the same piano Paul McCartney plays in Hey Jude.

I hope you enjoyed my little blog post, see you next Wednesday!

Piano Music

So this might seem a bit strange, a sudden blog post about piano music. Let me explain.
I play the piano for four or five years or so, and I still enjoy it. I started with a stupid lesson book which had those dumb songs in it so at first I wasn't so sure. But I didn't give up, and now I can play beautiful songs because of practice.

Lately, I've been playing songs of Ludovico Einaudi. He has made the music for the movie Intouchables (I don't know if you know it) and I love his music. So I thought I would make a list of his songs (and maybe a few other songs too) so you can  check them out if you like.

By the way, I wanted to go to his concert because he is in the Netherlands in April but it was already sold out...

OK I think it's way easier if I just make a playlist on YouTube and put it in here. Here it is:

PS: I'm sorry this is posted on Thursday, I forgot to put the link in.

Saturday. Finally.

OK, so this is my first real, acceptable blog post. I decided to talk about Arctic Monkeys because their music can be really chill and edgy and stuff, but you can also dance wildly and losing it, just like a good Saturday.
Alex Turner, Jamie Cook, Matt Helders and Nick O'Malley. Humbug ara.

Arctic Monkeys are an alternative rock band, active since 2002.

My favourite album:
AM. And before you go all 'yeah right, that's their most known album' and 'OmG ur a fake fan!1!!!1', I will tell you why. I really, really love all of their albums. Like, all of them. From Humbug to Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I am, to Favourite Worst Nightmare (that album is to die for!). You could say I love them equally, each and one of them, but I have the most good memories related to AM, and I listened the most to that album when my granny died, which helped me a lot.

Second favourite album:
Favourite Worst Nightmare, but I guess you figured that out.

Favourite songs
1. Fluorescent Adolescent
2. Brainstorm
3. 505
4.  D is For Dangerous
5. Knee Socks
6. Snap Out Of It
7. This House Is A Circus
8. Who the Fuck Are The Arctic Monkeys
9. Arabella
10. Fireside

That was about it, hope you liked it.

YAY FRIDAY

It's Friday!
And because it is Friday, I am going to show you the songs I used to really love but kind of forgot. I'm going to look really deep down into my YouTube history and see what I find up there :)

OK so the first one isn't really a song, but I used to play it all the time and dance around in my living room. It's the fifth track of the movie Avatar: Becoming One Of The People, Becoming One With Neytiri.
I used to be in street dance classes and we had one dance with this song. It was the intro. I don't know, it's not something I would normally listen to, but I just love it.

The second one is something completely different: Not Afraid by Eminem. As you may know, I'm a big fan of Eminem and this isn't the one I like the most of him. I think. I don't know. I can't decide.
However, I used to play this and rap along and just put it on replay.

The third one is Impossible by James Arthur. Impossible is originally by Shontelle but James Arthur sang it on X-Factor and I actually like his version better.

This one you probably know (Or not, I don't know what songs you listen to): The Climb by Miley Cyrus. No explanation, I just love it.

The fifth one is Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House. I knew it before, but I recently discovered a cover of this song from Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande. And because of that cover, I went back to the video of Crowded House and I fell in love with it again :P

This one isn't that old, only three years but I really liked it: Hurricane by Bridgit Mendler. I was a really big fan of Good Luck Charlie (I don't know if you know it) and I also loved her music.

I discovered this one from the tv-show: Shakespeare from Miranda Cosgrove. It was on that episode of iCarly where they helped a man to get married and she sang this for him and his wife and I loved it and I searched for it and I listened to it and I loved it even more!

The next one is again a little bit different: If You Could See Me Now by The Script. I'm a big fan of The Script, I love all of their songs and especially this one.

I don't know on how much I am now, but this one is very different. It's Ew by Jimmy Fallon and Will.i.am. I'm a fan of the Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon and I like the Ew episodes and this song is just really funny so yeah, I listened to it a lot. I still do, sometimes.

This one is very old: Ridin' Solo by Jason Derulo. It just describes me! Just kidding :P
I just really love the chorus.

So the last one is a dutch song, so you may not know it: Uit Elkaar by Yes-R. When I was in fourth grade (yes fourth grade, that is like 7 years ago or something like that) I used to listen to it a lot. And even though it's about a breakup, when my rabbit died, I listened to it and I would cry because of my Rabbit (I know so cheesy). One time my teacher played the song in class and I cried. That was a little embarrassing.

I made a playlist of those songs so you can listen to them :)

Have a good day,
Leonie

Let's Talk About Bands Baby

Let's talk about bands baby, let's talk about all my ABC's

So let me explain. I have this little notebook where I write stuff like thoughts (poems, ideas for stories and such) but I also note things I don't want to forget. For example:

Bands. I now have 1500 artists- wait wait, before you click away my article and judge me about me being a creep and having no life (hey I can't help it), let me explain. Yes, again.

Of course don't know every artists album or know all of their bandmembers names (there are a few exeptions, like 5 Seconds of Summer and other favourite bands) but I write down one, if I hear a cool song and/or I hear potention. So this explains why I easily got 1500 artists. Also, I didn't write these names in just on night, I have collect them over the years (like, 3 years).

'Why the fuck would you write down all these artists names?'  well, I have no friends so I have to spend my time differently- I mean, if I'm bored or I'm gonna do chores I want to listen to music. So what do I do when you don't know what to listen? I'll look for a random band name (because it's mainly bands) and woop, several (unlistened) albums wait for me to get played. And maybe just a bit to show off, heheh.

Did I tell you that all these bands and artists are in alphabetical order? No? That's why I said Abc's, hahaha do you get it now? What? You've run away? Such a pity. I just want to tell you why I would tell you guys something  that's so weird? It's because I'm gonna share these bands with you! Voilà, 1500 subjects for blogposts. That will keep the both of us busy for a while.

In these series I'm gonna show you guys my favourite bands/artists (not in alphabetical order though, thank god),  my favourite album/song and I'll show a picture and place a link. How does that sound? Nice? Well, that is not everything (God, I sound like a hyperactive salesman)! I'm also going to try to keep you guys updated so you know when they have a show, and other news.
And since you may have noticed, I also make/find playlist.

You also can request things in the comment section and leave your fave band or song.

That was it, see you in a couple of days!

Parson James

Hi,

For today's blog post I thought I would tell you something about a guy I recently discovered. Well, I knew a song of him but I didn't know it was from him (if that makes sense).

His name is Parson James, and you may or may not know him from his song 'Stole the show' with Kygo. I knew him from that song, but to be honest, I thought the song was just from Kygo or something, I don't know what I was thinking, but I had never heard of Parson James, until recently.

He is now 24 years old and he was born in a small town in South Carolina.

I listened to his song 'Temple' and I liked it. His voice is amazing. He doesn't have a lot of songs yet, only five, but I'm hoping he will bring out more.
I really recommend you to listen to 'A Sinner Like You'. It has him talking before the song for about four minutes and I think that the story he tells really helps to make the song more emotional I guess. I mean, you listen better to what he's saying after his story so you really understand it and it really gets to you.

OK enough with the emotional stories, you should just go and listen to his songs!
Here is the video from Temple, so you can see if you like it. :)

Bye,
Leonie

Rock on bitches

Hello,  Maya here!
I am a bit of an alternative type of person, and I also listen to a bit alternative music, I don't listen to pop music very often. Well, the music I listen to depends on my mood I have.
I do still listen to the (pop) music I used to listen to, and re-live my youth 😂. I now mainly listen to rock genres (from the heaviest metal to oldest rock) so I decided to make a little Rock playlist! Here it comes:

Indie/Rock playlist:

Led Zeppelin - Ten years Gone
Led Zeppelin - Trampled under foot
Led Zeppelin - Four Sticks
Arctic Monkeys - Brainstorm
Jet - Cold Heart Bitch
The Kooks - Bad Habit
Nirvana - Drain You
Pink Floyd - Another Brick In the Wall
Oasis - Champagne Supernova
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
Arctic Monkeys - View from The Afternoon
Soul Asylum - Take Manhattan
Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet with Butterfly Wings
Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick
The Verve - Sonnet
The Clash - Should I stay Or Should I go
The White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl
Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone
The Black Keys - Everlasting Night
Ugly Kid Joe - Everything about You
Wolf Alice - Moaning Mona Lisa Smile

That was about it, I added a lot of Led Zeppelin in this playlist because I am currently listening to it and their music is gold (those are my personal likes and those of a friend of mine).

See you in a couple of days, where I talk about some bands I discovered!

Lots Of Love (LOL),
Maya
